The Dance of the Partnership - Why do my feet hurt? Strengthening the parent-professional partnership

Below is a link to the text of the keynote address given by Janice Fialka, MSW, ACSW.  She spoke at the Division of Early Childhood's (DEC) Thirteenth Annual Conference on Children with Special Needs in New Orleans back in 1997.

Mrs. Fialka offers her unique insight as both a parent of a child with disability and as a professional.

Thanks for the link.  The article is very informative and does a great job of explaining why parents act as they do sometimes.  I wish we could share this with all parents and special education professionals.

Yes, it is a good article.  I think it is good for awareness of the issues that come about by being a parent of a special needs child.  It also helps to see from a professionals prospective too.  I had the opportunity to see Mrs. Fialka speak at a conference last summer.  I really appreciated her insights!
