Information for Families in the Indianapolis area regarding a proposed Charter School
Hi, Everyone. This is just a reminder about our meeting THIS WEDNESDAY. Please join us to learn about a proposed charter school in Indianapolis called the Spectrum Environmental Academy. Jennifer Littlefield will tell us all about the school, which will be not only for kids on the spectrum, but also for other kids with alternative learning styles. In addition, you will have a chance to fill out a short form (to add to those already collected) which will be used to help demonstrate the need for and interest in the school when it comes up for approval from the mayor's review board. I understand the initial reception from the mayor's office has been positive, but more interest can only help. As a charter school, children from all the school districts in the area would be able to apply. A charter school is a public school, so there would be no tuition. Initially the school would be grades K-8, but it would add a grade each year through high school. I am very impressed by what I've learned about this proposed school so far. It is already being very well managed and thought out, and the staff will receive a lot of training that will be ongoing. Come join us to find out more about this exciting educational opportunity which could be available to our children in as little as a year or less. As usual, we will meet from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the meeting room just inside the main entrance to the Irvington Branch of the public library, 5625 E.Washington St. (This is between Emerson and Shadeland, west of Arlington and east of Ritter, at the southwest corner of the stoplight at Audubon and Washington.) Also, PLEASE FORWARD this mailing to any other families who might be interested. All are welcome at any of our meetings, held the last Wednesday of every month (except holidays.)
